2. the impact of the Government during the cold war
3. the origins and effects of mcCarthyism of Mcarthyism
Has McCarthyMania Been Misjudged?
THE ORIGINGS AND OTHER FACTS
Contrary to popular belief Republican Senator Joseph McCarthy did not start the paranoia known as McCarthyism. The Anti-Communist America started to form back in the First Red Scare During 1917 to 1920. During World War 2 the Soviet Union was our ally and friends but when the war ended fear of communism invading America was on the rise again, especially when the Russians tested an Atom Bomb in 1949. Then in 1950 Mao Zedong Had full control of China. McCarthy was elected in 1947 and in 1950 he is believed to have sent a piece of paper to congress with a list of people he believed were communist; 50 days after this the term McCarthyism was first used in the Washington Post. In 1951 the United States Senate Subcommittee on Internal Security was formed by the Special Subcommittee to Investigate the Administration of the Internal Security Act and Other Internal Security Laws then in 1952 the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations was formed and McCarthy was named the Head (it should be noted that he was only involved in this one committee) and the House Committee on Un-American Activities held nine straight days of Hollywood Blacklisting Hearings; between 1949 and 1954 the total amount of "communist related investigations" by the three tallied at 109. The frenzy also leaked into the Department of Justice, they kept a list of Organizations they that they alone deemed to be subversive. The list was first made public in 1948 and the listing contained 78 organizations; at its height the list had 154 organizations of that 110 were listed as Communist. By far the largest Communist enemy was the FBI who remained behind the scenes as Senator McCarthy was interrogating people on national Television the FBI was providing a womb for anti-communism to grow act under the Freedom of Information Act of 1966 all of the FBI's investigations became public and had it been known then McCarthyism Would probably been called Hooverism, after the FBI's Director at the time J. Edgar Hoover who is arguably the most Fervent Anti-Communist of his day.
HOOVERISM
4. Ronold Reagan's Presidency
Reaganomics: Rebuilding our economy
The facts
Before Reagan took over the presidency, commodities like oil had begun to lose supply and caused our economy into a ten year stagflation causing our economy to level off and even begin to fall. However Reagan planed to battle this with a four point economic strategy the points included 1. reduce the growth of government spending 2. reduce marginal tax rates on income from labor and capital 3. reduce regulation and 4. control the money supply to reduce inflation also known as the sound money policy. The ideals of Reaganomics were spawned from two of the policies Reagan endorsed during his campaign, to lower taxes and to create less government influence, influencing private investment for the government.

I will be doing this in the form of a magazine/newspaper layout.

My progress thus far has been beginning to write an editorial about the origins of McCarthyism and it results as well as research how Reagan changed the country

I still need to research the growth of state power during the cold war and WWII
